On September 23rd, 2022, local groups across the Fridays for Future U.S. network will be striking for climate justice under the international narrative #PeopleNotProfit.

This strike, during the lead-up to COP27 in November, is focusing on climate justice for MAPA (Most Affected People and Areas) communities most affected by the climate crisis – specifically through Loss and Damage finance. Colonizers and capitalists are at the core of the systems of oppression that directly cause the climate crisis.

The full narrative can be found at fridaysforfuture.org/september23

Who We Are: Fridays For Future U.S. is a group of youth activists demanding action on the climate crisis.

Our Demands: We demand that the Global North and wealthy colonial nations pay their climate debt through long-overdue reparations and investment in Loss and Damage.

Our standing demands can be found at fridaysforfutureusa.org/demands.

How to Join Us: Strike in person! We ask participants to wear a mask, get vaccinated, and social distance whenever possible. We must recognize COVID19 as an intersection of social justice and the climate crisis. If in person striking is not a possibility, support our movement via social media and online strikes. Post a photo with your strike sign and the following hashtags: #UprootTheSystem #GlobalClimateStrike #ClimateActionNow #ClimateJustice #September23GlobalStrike #FridaysforFuture #PeopleNotProfit
